Warren needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
This deserving boy is waiting for his forever home! Warren and his brother were found on the side of the road, likely abandoned and living as strays. Sadly, we learned that Warren had lost his hearing, likely due to an untreated ear infection, but this hasn't slowed him down at all. He has excelled in his training and is learning signs! Because he’s very treat-motivated and smart, he's been easy to train and correct -- in fact, he already knows sit, down, yes, no, leave it, come, touch, and wait. Warren needs a calm household with a loving family that knows or is willing to learn how to live happily with a deaf dog and will help him continue to be the amazing, sweet, Velcro boy he always has been. He would do well in a home with another dog, as he does seem to take cues from his furry family members, but he would be ok as an only dog too. He loves his foster’s yard; however, he really just wants to be where his people are. Warren will need ongoing training as he has been known to counter surf, get “mouthy” in play or affection, and play with shoes. He does tend to be very cautious of new people, but given the opportunity to check them out in his time and in his way, he warms up nicely. Warren's deafness isn't a handicap, just something that sets him apart from other dogs. His deafness does, however, affect how he receives cues and his family needs to have the patience to use gentle cues in correcting since a heavy or startling hand can result in a fearful response. Warren continues to win us over with his ability to overcome a less than optimal start in life with a gentle, forgiving, and sunny disposition. Consider opening your home this holiday season to this handsome and happy soul.
