Cattle Dog / Hound / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : Medium
Owen is an approximately 1-and-a-half to 2-year-old red heeler hound mix currently being fostered in Fort Myers, FL (Lee County). This 40-lb bundle of energy loves to chase squirrels and balls, go on runs, play with dogs, and play hide and seek. He also enjoys a good meal! Owen knows some basic commands including sit, down and shake. Like all dogs, he would benefit from additional training, particularly because he does not like being bored! Owen needs mental and physical stimulation. If he is bored and left alone, he can cause a bit of destruction. He is part heeler, and his herding instincts can come out in the form of nipping at heels. Owen does best with women, but he will warm up to men with time and treats. Because of his herding tendencies, he would do best in an adult home or a home with older, considerate children. Owen is up to date on vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is house trained and crate trained.
