Honey is an approx. 3 year old, 35 lbs. Carolina dog. She was rescued from Orange County animal shelter last September in horrible condition, both physically (every inch of bone was showing and she was over 10 pounds underweight) and emotionally, very shut down; she was semi-feral. She’s been with her foster since this time who has rehabilitated her. Honey now understands what it’s like to live the life of a happy and loved dog. She is an agreeable and gentle soul who gets along well in the household. She is dog friendly and lives with several other dogs; cats won’t work for Honey though. Honey can be playful with others and has found the dog toy basket to be a source of fun. She loves to get toys out of the basket and almost stock-pile a few of them somewhere else.  We think a confident, well-balanced dog in the home would be good for Honey as a companion as well as confidence boost. When first meeting Honey, she is shy and somewhat aloof.  Food is your friend with Honey as she is very food-motivated.  Honey lives with a 10 year old human child and does very well with her so a gentle, not rambunctious child, would be work for her as well. She’s crate trained and even knows to go to her crate for dinner, and when her foster leaves the house and for bed. She enjoys being in her crate (door open) or on a dog bed when the foster is home.  Honey enjoys her walks and is excited when she knows she is leaving the house to walk. Honey walks nicely on an easy-walk harness. She  also has nice manners and knows sit and wait; and she isn't a jumper. Honey is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped, and potty-trained.
