Carolina Dog (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium
Honey is an approx. 3 year old, 35 lbs. Carolina dog. She was rescued from Orange County animal shelter last September in horrible condition, both physically (every inch of bone was showing and she was over 10 pounds underweight) and emotionally and semi-feral. She was very shut down. She’s been with her foster since this time and is learning, day by day, to love and trust and is gaining confidence. Honey is a gentle soul who gets along well in the household. Her adopter will need to understand that Honey will need patience, positive reinforcement and consistency to help her to continue on her path. She is dog friendly and lives with several other dogs; cats won’t work for Honey though. Honey can be playful with other dogs when she feels comfortable and has even found the dog toy basket to be a source of fun. I think a confident, well-balanced dog in the home would be good for Honey. Honey lives with a 10 year old human child and does very well with her so a gentle, not rambunctious child, would be good for her. She’s crate trained and even knows to go to her crate for dinner, when I leave the house and for bed. She also enjoys being in her crate (door open) when I’m home. Honey now enjoys her walks and is excited when she knows she is leaving house to walk. Honey is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped.
